About OSIICON-27

The Ocean Society of India (OSI) started organizing the biennial flagship conference series since 2009. These conferences hosted by leading academic/research institutes were very successful in bringing together researchers, students and professionals working in the area of Oceanography, Climate Science, Earth Sciences and related fields to share their knowledge.

OSIICON-27 is being hosted by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, is a premier research institute of international repute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India. This conference will serve as a platform to catalyse transformative ideas into actionable solutions for a sustainable and resilient future. IITM and OSI are pleased to invite the Earth Science community to this biennial conference and for the first time, an international, OSIICON-27, the 10th National / 1st International Conference scheduled to be held during 20-22 January 2027.

Conference Themes


The Conference will feature plenary sessions and invited talks by leading national and international experts across key thematic areas. In addition, Researchers, Academicians Technologists, and practitioners are invited to submit original contributions in the form of abstracts, focusing on research advancements, technological innovations, or field applications. A broad range of themes spanning Ocean, atmospheric, and earth sciences are available for abstract submission.

Best Oral Presentations

OSIICON-27 has instituted Biennial Awards for the best oral presentations by young researchers (40 years of age as on 7th February 2027) during OSIICON-27 in various thematic areas.

  • The best oral presentation awards include a citation, certificate and cash prize of Rs. 5000/-.
  • The best poster award by OSIICON-27 includes a citation and certificate.
  • These awards will be presented during the concluding session of OSIICON-27.
  • Oral presentations in the contest section will be judged based on originality, methodological rigor, and presentation quality.
OSI Biennial PhD Theses Awards

OSI has introduced Biennial PhD Theses Awards instituted under different themes in Ocean Science and Technology to recognize excellent research carried out by young PhD holders in the country.

  • The Awards consist of citation, certificate, and prize amount of Rs. 10,000/- that will be given during the OSIICON-27.
